Robots are the machines that enhance human activities and reduce effort to do any work. Now you will see robots everywhere in this modern era. They are playing important role in this innovative world of modern technology.In the 20th century, the digital computer is invented. Researchers quicklystart referring to the computer as an “electronic brain” and start thinking about ways to build robots with computer brains.
First Robot Unimate:
The first modern programmable robot was the Unimate. General Motors installed the first robot to work in a factory in 1961 to move pieces of hot metal. Unimate was an autonomous, pre-programmed robot that repeatedly performed the same dangerous task.
Shakey The Robot:
It was Incredible to think about this human like machine but now it’s true and even too common to have machines who can work as man’s alternatives. In 1966, Shakey The Robot is invented at Stanford. Shakey was the first autonmous, intelligent robot that made its own decisions about how to behave.
Researchers in Artificial Intelligence has made tremendous progress in making of most intelligent machines of this era called robots. They are trying to make this more intelligent like human day by day. These are actually programmable computer designed in different shapes to perform different task. Even technology has advanced too much and able to build robot who can served in restaurants as an man alternative. They are performing tasks in Factories and industries like packing materials, arranging products, bringing from one side and placing to other means many more tasks like this these robots are performing very well. As they are controlled by programs so there is less chance of errors that is high in case of human management. One robot can do work of 100 men even in less time.
But there are some drawbacks:
As 1 robot is working by replacing 100 people then there is chance of un-employment because of this advanced technology. But there is one more point here those who made robots, like software engineer ,hardware engineer ,programmer, technician, AI researchers and many more related to this field will get more employment. But people belong to less intelligence will be somehow affected by this robotics technology in form of un -mployment.
As I mentioned above, if a single robot in factory can perform a simple task (for example packing shirts) within less time comparatively 100 people, then human will surely be replaced by this machine (robot) and there is possibility for that people to be unemployed. Here I mentioned a simple task done by robots because I want to show here how less intelligent people are being affected by this technology, others with high intelligence(like professionals, engineers, programmers, doctorate) can somehow take part in this modern activities of AI. These technologies deal with automated machines that can take the place of humans in dangerous environments or manufacturing processes, or resemble humans in appearance, behavior, or cognition. Many of today’s robots are inspired by nature contributing to the field of bio-inspired robotics. These robots have also created a newer branch of robotics: soft robotics.
Still Because of all drawbacks we can’t deny it’s remarkable uses that has made our life much easier.
